Natalie Merchant Previews "Leave Your Sleep," Forthcoming Nonesuch Debut, on BBC and in Concert
Natalie Merchant's musical sweep through London concludes tonight with a free performance at the Free Word Centre, home to the organization Free Word, which works to promote, protect, and democratize the power of the written and spoken word for creative and free expression. Natalie will perform and discuss a selection of songs from her forthcoming Nonesuch debut, titled Leave Your Sleep, a collection of songs adapted from the works of various classic and contemporary poets, due out early next year.

Tonight's event follows Monday's show at London's Conway Hall, Natalie's first UK solo performance in over seven years, and the preceding Friday's guest performance with Guy Barker and the London Jazz Festival Orchestra for the gala opening night concert of the London Jazz Festival at the Barbican. The BBC Radio 3 has broadcast Friday's concert, which you can listen to online for the next six days via this link at bbc.co.uk.

On BBC Radio Scotland, Natalie spoke with Global Gathering host Mary Ann Kennedy about her career and the forthcoming album, Leave Your Sleep. You can hear a sneak preview of two songs from the album, "Dancing Bear" and "Sailor O Sailor" for the next six days also at the following link on bbc.co.uk.

We look forward for the next album of this superb voice and songwriter and also her touring in Belgium on february the 5th AB.
Nice to hear her back also in Europe.

Nathalie Merchant ben ik wel benieuwd naar. Heb haar gemist op Crossing Border.
Fijne stem om naar te luisteren en mooie liedjes.

Marco ik heb haar ook gemist op Crossing Border. Mijn hartje ging sneller kloppen toen ik afgelopen week over haar optreden op Crossing Border las. Ik, rund, dacht dat het over het festival versie 2010 ging. Tjonge wat een spijt heb ik hiervan, en dan te bedenken dat ik aan een aantal mensen beloofde de concerten van mevrouw Merchant in de gaten te houden zodat we meteen konden toeslaan. En nu maar hopen dat ze Johnnys Garden niet lezen, alhoewel.... ik was zo stom om ze de Nieuwsbrief door te sturen...

Hi even een update over deze artiest:
Volgens 'the guy from the recordlabel' (die ik sprak na haar concert in Dublin Jan 25th j.l. : Ze komt in April naar Nederland :-)
En JA ook ik miste haar in Den Haag.... Hoorde van 'this guy from the recordlabel' dat ze trouwens de week voor dit Iers optreden ook in Den Haag was. 'Not for a performance, just for an interview'......

Inschrijven op de website van de recordcompagny (was 'this RC guy's' tip) dus maar! en abonneren op de feed! (hebben vandaag weer updates geplaatst)
Natalie zelf stuurt weinig mailtjes uit via haar eigen website is me over de jaren heen gebleken.
Nonsuch Artist like NM dus ;-) Alle ogen en oren open dus maar voor april.
Houden jullie me ook maar op de hoogte!
PS>De live performance in Dublin was great, maar het publiek en de locatie bij de BBC was beter! De filmpjes van dat optreden lijken zo clean en fris, Dublin was een pub met stage. De setting (seating! ipv staan) ala BBC leent zich ook veel beter voor zo'n mooi intiem luisterconcert! Want dat wordt deze tour wel!!! Heel anders dan de Tigerlily/Ophelia tour. Ben benieuwd naar de NLtour!! ;-)

Het blijkt toch inderdaad om een dubbel album te gaan.

Let even op maggie and milly and molly and may van e.e. cummings zo mooi. En ja de BBC zet niets van deze titel in kapitalen neer, net zoals de meester e.e. cummings zelf. Onbewust heb ik dat van de beste man overgenomen door ook vrijwel nergens mijn naam met een hoofdletter te schrijven op internet.
